Troll gas field

The Troll gas field supplies 1/10th of Europe's gas and is predicted to do so for the next 40 years.

Goodwin supplied 60tons of nitrogen-enriched stainless steel valve castings for Troll. The 316LN material was selected for superior strength-to-weight ratio than normal 316, and also for its better corrosion resistance.

Subsea ball valves

Class 5,000 metal-seated subsea diverless intervention ball valve body castings, for Statford oil field.

These valve bodies were produced by Goodwin in duplex stainless steel with nickel alloy 625 weld overlay. Supplied fully machined and weld overlaid with forged pups welded on.

Mud pump crankshaft

Drilling mud lubricates the drill bit and its pressure prevents oil or water from gushing up the drill hole.

This 4,500kg crankshaft is cast and finish machined by Goodwin for use in such a mud pump. The material is a high tensile, low alloy steel.

Cast gate valve bodies

Cast 16inch 22% Cr duplex stainless steel gate valve bodies.

Produced to UNS J92205 and 100% radiographed to ASTM E186 level 2.

Cast swept bends

Reduction of sand particulate matter is achieved by incorporating a swept bend, with branch in flowlines carrying first oil from offshore extraction.

These 775kg cast swept bends were produced to API 6,000 pressure rating. Manufactured in ASTM A487 material with processing and inspection API 8C PSL 3

Cast Christmas tree

The valve arrangement on top of the wellhead is called a Christmas tree.

The one shown in the photograph weighed 1,995kg and was cast by Goodwin in a low alloy, high tensile steel.

Manufactured in ASTM A487 material with processing and inspection to API 8C PSL 3.
