Subsea ball valves

Class 5,000 metal-seated subsea diverless intervention ball valve body castings, for Statford oil field.

These valve bodies were produced by Goodwin in duplex stainless steel with nickel alloy 625 weld overlay. Supplied fully machined and weld overlaid with forged pups welded on.

Cast gate valve bodies

Cast 16inch 22% Cr duplex stainless steel gate valve bodies. 

Produced to UNS J92205 and 100% radiographed to ASTM E186 level 2.

Producing Duplex Stainless Steel in the AOD vessel

When producing duplex stainless steel the use of the AOD refining vessel enables removal of volatile elements and the reduction of inclusions and impurities in the steel. Close composition control and the addition of nitrogen is also possible.

The picture shows molten steel being transferred to the AOD (argon-oxygen decarburisation) refining vessel for treatment.
