E911 (9.5%Cr steel casting) CV casing

Goodwin supplied this 10Cr-1Mo-0.2V-1W-Nb-N casting in the finish machined condition with forged pups and lagging nuts welded on. The central casting had a finished weight of 8000 kg.

This CV unit is for the 500MW supercritical power plant for Weston 4, Wisconsin USA. This is a state of the art plant using clean coal technologies to make it one of the most cleanest fossil-fuelled power plants in the country.

Verification of 9.5%Cr steel casting for ultra-supercritical applications

Goodwin carried out extended creep and stress rupture testing to demonstrate the suitability for their cast E911 material for an ultra-supercritical application at 610°C. The testing couple with ANSYS stress analysis proved the case.

The graph shows 14,500 hours worth of stress rupture data for the Goodwin Cast 9.5% Cr Steel (E911, GX12CrMoWVNbN1011) (purple line) compared with published wrought data for P91 (green line), this testing programme validated over 280,000hrs life at 610°C.

16,000kg 9.5%Cr steel MSV unit for 600MW plant

This 600MW MSV body for super-critical application is produced from two castings which are then fabricated together to make a 16,000kg valve body.

The order was for 46 of these MSV bodies.
